TO: US Senate Kevin McCarthy:

Dear Sir:

On November 4th, 2019 I received a letter from Veterans Income Verification about my income and eligibility for the VA. I was surprised to get the letter since I just applied for VA benefits a few months back and we had gone through all this.

I went through it again and found out that the money I have saved over my life time was also considered income when I withdraw or use it! I explained to the lady that can’t be true. That would be like double taxing a person “I paid tax on this money when I earned it years ago”! The lady totally agreed that the way our income is being calculated for VA Service’s is totally wrong but there was nothing she could do about it since CONGRESS had voted it into law! I asked what I could do about this and she said to get a hold of my congress person “Ann Wagner” and try to get the law amended. I told her there wasn’t a chance of my getting anything done by myself! She said if enough people did what I am doing that we could get this error corrected! I am 75 years old and know I will never see the results of this since it takes years to get things done in CONGRESS! I am hoping to help the younger VET’s get what they deserve.

I called Ann Wagner’s local office and talked to several people there and they all agreed this was wrong and should not be happening! They took down all the information and gave me a Veterans Hot Line to Wash DC and said I should call it to see if I could get more help.

I called the Veteran’s hot line in Wash DC and explained everything to them. They also agreed this was wrong but there was nothing they could do about it since CONGRESS had made it a law! They recommended I call the Veterans Benefits Requirement dept. That’s where I had started at, just one crazy circle!

To make a long story short, everyone agrees that the way the Veterans Benefits Requirements is calculating our income is wrong and illegal but they can’t do anything about it! My question to you is WHO CAN! I thought that CONGRESS was supposed to help us not hurt us! I hear on the news all the time how CONGRESS passes a law to benefit the illegal’s immigrants that come into this country! Is this how CONGRESS gets the money for immigrants, taking it away from the VETS!

On November 6th I started writing this letter, I had to wait 48 hours so I could cool off and not say anything I would regret! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be mailing copies of it to any and everyone I can find that might be able to help.

Thank You;
